My experience with running has been the same, a good year of getting into it followed by injuries as you learn how your body works then a tough slow build back to where you want to be. Probably took me 5 years until I was able to run consistently without major injury. I especially enjoyed the stress fracture year. Stay hard Brent!
I think my fatal mistake has been not having strength correspond with the kilometres I was running. Caused a major imbalance according to my physio and the tightness as a result is what's caused the problems. I'm glad you've figured it out. You crush an ultra anyday.
Very similar story here William. Did heaps of long distance events my first year, but a groin niggle in my second forced me to rethink why I’m running and if these crazy distances are necessary. Turns out they weren’t, and I get almost the same satisfaction out of doing 20-25kms per week consistently, which doesn’t clog up my whole week
Take care Bro.. You are doing the right things, if something makes me upset then either delete it or uninstall it. I want to tell you one-thing, you got the intention to run and injury is holding you back now and one day you will be back in running but I know so many of my friends not doing any activities and they think they want to do but never does anything about it. You are better than those..
Always think.. There are hundreds of people below you who never does anything for fitness and be happy. You are such a dedicated person and I am confident that you will back and finish the race soon which you miss now. So cute puppy luna.
I’ve barely been able to for a month now. I’ve got just about all notifications turned off because I know seeing other people doing stuff that I wish I could do is only going to upset me. Especially now Sri Chinmoy is almost certainly parked for me.
Yeah anything lower back is completely fucked. So hard to rehab it when you use it for absolutely everything. I don't even reckon I could train for and run Sydcney Mara at this stage.
It’s tough being injured, especially when movement/ running is such a big part of caring for your mental health. You’re doing all the right things for yourself. If deleting socials like Strava helps, then I say delete away!! I deleted Insta recently for the same reasons. Sometimes it’s just easier not to have it right there, reminding you, when you’re working so hard on getting better and combatting the negative self-talk. Narrow down to the essentials to get better x
Thank you Trudes, I think it's important we take in what helps us, and push away any negative energies that aren't benefitting us. Appreciate you, can't wait to run city to surf! x

Sorry to hear you're having a tough time Brent.
Maybe we should get a group together to do some strength work?
It sounds like a good plan actually, and thank you, also I've gotta drop you off that book to read I'm finished and loved it!
Love a bit of “sugar-coatingless” honesty. Keep going.
Important I think to show people they can be vulnerable. Thank you for your support mate!
Vulnerability builds trust.

Thank you brother, can't wait to come watch you this weekend run your marathon, you've done incredible to train for it!
Something in the water, mate.

Nothing is forever though, mate. We’ll get there.
Train*
Yeah Sri Chimnoy is fast becoming a 50km training run, but it might not even get that far. Bloody back impingement, wouldn't wish it on anyone.

PS. Luna is so gorgeous. More Luna spam please! 🙏🏼
